The South Metro Fire Department (West St Paul & South St Paul in Dakota County) will be offering a no-charge “Citizens’ Fire Academy” starting on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. The Fire Academy is a learning program for people who reside or work in South St Paul & West St Paul and who want to know more about their fire department. It is our desire to provide take-away skill sets while increasing awareness about the Fire Department with our local residents, so that these residents will become well-informed citizens who can become more involved with the long-term safety of our community. We will demonstrate the day to day operations of the Fire Department. We are committed to the community we serve and we are determined to be at the forefront of fire and injury prevention and rescue. The Academy involves sessions of two hours a week for nine weeks; topics will include day-to-day operations, fire safety & prevention, Emergency Medical Services, Special Rescue and others that are important to public safety.
Space will be limited; applications will be accepted until Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Click here to download an application.
